Howard Bank Wins Financial Education Award
Howard Bank has won top honors in the Maryland Bankers Association’s 2007 Financial Education Awards presentations.
Howard County’s only locally owned and managed bank, Howard Bank was cited for its community based programs aimed at adults and seniors.
“We are committed to the people and businesses of Howard County, and the only way we know to keep that commitment is to be almost obsessive in our approach to volunteerism and participation,” said President and CEO Mary Ann Scully.
The bank’s Financial Education activities include programs at the Small Business Development Center, Tai Sophia Institute, Howard Community College, Domestic Violence Center, Congregations Concerned for the Homeless and others, as well as its own free educational seminar series.
The Maryland Bankers Association award is among a series of recognitions Howard Bank has received since it opened in August of 2004. The bank was named 2007 Small Business of the Year by the Maryland Chamber of Commerce.
Howard Bank has branches in the Village of Hickory Ridge in Columbia, on Snowden River Parkway in Ellicott City and on Johns Hopkins Road in Maple Lawn. A fourth branch in Ellicott City at the crossroads of Route 40, Centennial Lane and Frederick Road is also planned.
