Howard Bank Extends the Submission Deadline for its Annual “Keep It Local” Contest. The Winning Small Business Takes Home $10,000.
BALTIMORE, MD, May 15, 2020 – Howard Bank, a locally headquartered community-focused commercial bank serving businesses, professionals and individuals, announced today that it is extending the deadline for submissions for its Keep It Local contest through Friday, May 22nd.
“Given the immediate challenges brought on by the coronavirus, we want to give business executives more time to submit their applications,” said Erica Starr, Director of Marketing for Howard Bank. “It is our goal to continue to support small businesses in our communities and give as many the opportunity to apply.”
Designed as a way to support small businesses in and around the Baltimore region, the Keep It Local contest will recognize a small business for its extraordinary work within their community. The contest is looking for small businesses to nominate themselves for a chance to win $10,000. The public is encouraged to help spread the word and will be able to participate in the subsequent voting rounds.
Here’s how the contest works:
The contest will be extended an additional week and small businesses are encouraged to apply through Friday, May 22nd.
Eligible businesses can nominate themselves by simply filling out an online form by clicking here.
The applicant must provide an inspiring story about the business as well as an explanation regarding how the business has gone above and beyond for its community. The nominated business must be located within Howard Bank’s branch footprint, which includes Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Cecil, Harford and Howard counties as well as Baltimore City.
Nominations will close on Friday, May 22th at 9:00 p.m. (EST). The Top 15 businesses will be announced on Monday, June 1st and the first round of voting will be open to the public until Monday, June 8th.
The Top 5 businesses will advance to the second round of voting beginning on Monday, June 15th and closing on Monday, June 22nd. The winner of Howard Bank’s 2020 Keep It Local contest will be announced on Tuesday, June 30th.
