Scully Named to Maryland Bankers Association Board
Mary Ann Scully, President & CEO of Howard Bank, Howard County’s only locally owned and managed bank, has been named to the Board of Directors of the Maryland Bankers Association. The MBA represents 100 member banks with 1,700 branches in Maryland.
Scully is a lifelong banker with over 30 years of varied executive experiences in the Maryland marketplace. In 2003, she headed the organizing team for Howard Bank, the first new bank to open in the county in 15 years. Prior to organizing Howard Bank, Scully was employed by Allfirst Bank (formerly The First National Bank of Maryland and now M&T Bank) from 1973-2003.
A Howard County resident since 1995, Scully chairs the Howard County United Way Partnership Board and serves on the Board of the United Way of Central Maryland. She is a Horizon Foundation Board trustee. She is Vice Chair of the Columbia Foundation as well as the Women’s Giving Circle of Howard County.
In 2007, Scully was recognized as an honoree in the Howard County Women’s Hall of Fame and was the recipient of the Howard County Chamber of Commerce ACE award as Entrepreneur of the Year. In 2002, 2005 and 2007, Mary Ann was recognized as one of Maryland’s Top 100 Women by The Daily Record and was inducted into the Circle of Excellence. She was also one of the Baltimore Business Journal’s 2004 “Enterprising Women.”
Howard Bank opened in August of 2004. It has branches in the Hickory Ridge Village Center in Columbia, on Snowden River Parkway in Ellicott City and on Johns Hopkins Road in Maple Lawn. A fourth branch in Ellicott City at the crossroads of Route 40, Centennial Lane and Frederick Road is under construction.
